Msgr. Moeller Models “Love Your Neighbor” by Remembering Catholic Charities in His Will

It might be said that Monsignor George B. Moeller is the unofficial mayor of Mercy Ridge, the Timonium, Maryland, retirement community he now calls home. He regularly offers Mass for fellow residents, and everyone knows his name.
Fr. George grew up in Baltimore’s Hamilton neighborhood and was ordained in 1962 after graduating from St. Mary’s Seminary and University in Roland Park. He served as a priest in the Archdiocese of Baltimore for 46 years. “I had always been a great admirer of the work of Catholic Charities. In 1995 Executive Director Hal Smith asked me to join the Board of Trustees,” he says. “I served for nine years.”
Fr. George has made a bequest to Catholic Charities in his will to ensure support of fellow Marylanders well into the future. “I just admire their general attitude of respect and their commitment. Catholic Charities approaches everything with one goal in mind: to love your neighbor.”
His admiration extends to the unparalleled programming Catholic Charities offers, from St. Vincent’s Villa’s intensive work with children in extreme hardship to more than 20 senior housing communities across the state. “The organization truly serves those in need, from the cradle to the grave,” he says. “I have such a deep appreciation of how generous people there are with their time and talents. They truly live the mission to ‘cherish the divine within all’ and treat all people with dignity, regardless of their background and their circumstances.”
Fr. George has offered a heartfelt blessing at the past two annual luncheons for the Good Samaritan Society, which honors those who remember Catholic Charities in their estate and long-term financial plans. He invites you to join him in the Society by making a planned gift of your own. “I want to help further Catholic Charities’ mission to love, to serve, to teach, and to work for justice,” he concludes. “I can think of no better set of values. I want to help them to keep up the good work!”
