Lois Eigner Creates Bequest to Support Future Needs of Gallagher Services
Because of what she’s witnessed in her own family, Lois Beth Eigner understands the vital work being done by Catholic Charities of Baltimore’s Gallagher Services. That’s why she has established a bequest that will support the program well into the future.
“After I said ‘I do’ and married Robert, I visited his daughter Kathy for the first time at Gallagher Services,” Lois says. “I was impressed with the quality of care she was clearly receiving.”
Lois wanted her planned gift to Gallagher Services to be clear and straightforward. She chose to create a bequest that leaves her entire estate to the organization. “My finances aren’t complicated,” she says. “A bequest was the simplest, most straightforward way to accomplish my goal.”
Now widowed, Lois hopes her legacy will reflect both her and Robert’s shared commitment.
“Robert and I just decided we would do whatever we could to support the program that had made such a difference in Kathy’s life. There will always be people born disabled, and I hope that other parents don’t have to bear the burden of the sleepless nights that my deceased husband endured. People, especially those with special needs, deserve to be well taken care of, regardless of their circumstances.”
Encouraging others to consider a similar act of generosity, Lois adds, “I’m happy knowing that my estate will support a very good cause. I would tell others that you can’t take it with you, so don’t just think it—DO IT!”
